For me, the only colour a pashmina can possibly be is pink. The brighter, the better. The combination of the soft, silky texture of the pashmina and the vivid pink colour always perks up any outfit and puts me in a good mood. Even better, on a bitter Winter day when the thought of going outside makes me shiver, the colour of the pashmina picks up the pink flush in my cheeks and combines with my dark hair and eyes to make me look vivacious. I find the colour goes with any outfit even dreary business suits that might otherwise look dull and staid come alive with a bright flash of colour. If I’m at an event, having a pashmina in such a bright hue ensures that no-one else will accidentally walk off with it and nor am I in any danger of accidentally leaving it draped on a chair and forgetting about it. Above all, there’s just something gloriously girlish about wrapping a bright pink pashmina around yourself. It’s the perfect feminine touch. |

I found my favorite bag at a garage sale, brand new with the tags still on it for five dollars! I almost missed it as I was looking for a pair of snug boots initially. The handbag was in a tub full of purses and I wouldn't have even seen it if a woman hadn't been digging through it. As she tossed items on the ground I saw a tag and decided to check it out. It's a beauty a mock croc, black patent leather Jessica Simpson hobo bag. It's very roomy and has a large zippered pocket on the inside in addition to a cell phone pocket and two pockets on the outside with a large magnetic closure. There's lots of great silver hardware on the bag which looks great against the black patent leather. I have taken it on a cruise and several really nice events and I always get tons of compliments! They’d be surprised to know how I got it! |

I love my fashion accessories - from the floral pattern handbag I recently bought to the pashmina scarves I'm wearing to keep me warm this winter. However, my favourite is a humble shirt. It is not your most fashionable shirt. I stumbled onto it while perusing the mall stores during my younger years. The Disney Store was always one of my favorite stores in elementary school. The cute soft cotton shirt fell into my hands at the Disney Store when I was in the fifth grade. It was a baby blue color with an embroidered emblem of Classic Winnie the Pooh and Piglet on the shirt pocket. Now 23, I see the shirt has definitely faded on the edges over the years. However, my love for it has grown with the passing of time. Despite the bleach stains and tears, I wear the shirt proudly to bed. For it had grown more comfortable over the years with use. I hope to give it to my own daughter one day if the opportunity arises and the shirt is still wearable. |

This Christmas I had a very special dilemma. I had to find a gift for my father's girlfriend. What sort of present do you get for the woman that's having an affair with your father? I wanted to get her something good, but I also didn't want to spend more time and money on it than I did for my long suffering mother. I also had to be very careful. the gift had to be free of all possible negative interpretations. This made looking through my first idea, perfume, extremely difficult. Do you know how many perfumes are named something to do with sex, lust, and seduction. In the end I just gave up on that idea. So I figured I'd try jewelry. Most women like jewelry, right? I always saw her wearing bling. I even have jewellery making supplies so maybe I could make her something unique. But would a ring be seen as a hint at marriage? Would choosing something from the Material Girl line by Madonna be calling her shallow? In the end I bought an owl necklace. Owls are in, and I don't think they have to do with adultery. Right? I'll find out soon enough. |

When it comes to fancy dress costumes, I would dress up as the iconic shadow filling the caricature of Alfred Hitchcock. Brilliant in his writing and directing, and dry in his sense of humor, Alfred Hitchcock remains today a highly regarded and recognized figure of television and movies. His best known image stated previously comes from his television show "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." Imitating Hitchcock alone would be an excellent tribute however, my goal would be to attach a screen to my side with a light shining from the opposite side, so my shadow would throw on to the screen. The final piece would be the simple lines of his caricature drawn on to the opposite side of the screen. The two main challenges in this endeavor would first be the rigging of the screen and light. The screen could be attached with a belt but the light would require clever tinkering in order to attach it and power it. Second, I would need to look the part in order to cast a convincing shadow. A bald cap, and some other make up become necessary along with something like a pillow to increase my belly and chest size. Once I resemble the man and have the lighting and screen ready, all I would finally need is the theme song of his show, “Funeral March for a Marionette” and I’ll be set to impress at this fancy dress party. |

My favorite shoes are my Vans, which are a canvas shoe - cheap shoes I've worn for so many years now. They are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. They are basic and black, so they go with anything I'm wearing. They keep me comfortable whether I'm just relaxing with friends or playing basketball. I got my first pair when I was about 14. Anyone who doesn't pay too close attention may think that pair of shoes is immortal. Ever since I purchsed that first pair, I've bought the exact same color and style of shoe. It is funny to look through a slideshow of pictures from the last 15 years and see what appears to be the same pair of shoes. Typically, one pair will last me about a year. I do a lot of walking, so the soles will get worn pretty quickly. I've actually gotten so used to wearing them this way, that I find them a little uncomfortable when they are new. Usually I know it's time to get a new pair when I got out on a rainy day and my socks instantly get wet! |

What can you say about an aging hipster or maybe “oldster” except they know what they like. While my daughter has very "boutique" tastes - she's always going on about her Forever Unique dresses and what not - I have a bit more....well, peculiar tastes. I believe fashion is something that is important as a true method to separate yourself from the typical crowd. For me this has meant western shirts. This might have something to do with a girl I knew in school who admitted she had a fetish for this style of shirts, specifically the snaps but that is a different article. I am not talking about true vintage items that are from the 40’s, worn by Roy Roger’s wanna bes but I also don’t want the latest crop you can pick up at any of the current retail giants. Thrift stores and resale shops are the place to pick up these shirts. Western shirts are the perfect clothing item as they can be tucked in to look a little more neat or worn open over a tee shirt when you are lying around watching a movie or heading out to a dive bar. There is not much of a criteria but the basics for a good western shirt would be, preowned, snaps (never buttons), and decent condition (no holes, no stinky pits). After that you can find all kinds with long sleeves and short sleeves, and every design or pattern you can imagine is out there. You just have to dig and be patient. If you are in a hurry and can spend a little bit more money, look on eBay and you will find lots of great choices. This is great because you can usually search for your size, just type in something like “XL western shirt” and you will have lots of choices. Good luck with your search for these great shirts and have fun wearing them! |

I remember my wedding - it was on 10th October 2010 - or 10/10/10 - yes we waited til October just to get this special date. I guess it means we won't forget our anniversaries! The only problem was - it was rather a cold day. All the bridesmaids were wrapped up in their shawls while taking the photoshoots. They did look rather elegant though, though we didn't spend too long outside!
As it turned out, more people got married on that day than any other in 2010 - it seems everyone else had the same idea as us! There was a lot of media attention about it and so we felt slightly less special I have to say!
The trees were just starting to turn colour as well, and it was one of those beautiful azure blue days you only get at this particular time of year. It was a lovely day, and one we will never forget. |

It was my first pregnancy and I was 32. It’s easy to get pregnant - happened exactly as planned. I'd already bought myself nursing dresses for when the baby was born - talk about forward planning!
But before we had time to celebrate the good luck nightmare began. Form the 30th day onward, I had no appetite. I couldn’t actually smell any food, not to mention to eat. It was frustrating and scary. I was so worried that the baby could be starved to death. Fortunately my mother in law used to be a nurse so she did I.V.T for me at home, for about 6 hours everyday. Finally when I started to eat one month later, I was told by the doctor the bay lacked oxygen. So I went to the hospital everyday for one hour breath of oxygen. In addition, we rented two oxygen bags from the hospital and my husband had to travel between the hospital and home to ensure my oxygen supply at night. As the baby grew (thank God), the normal oxygen supply couldn’t meet her demand, she needed high-pressure oxygen! Then for another 20 days, I had to visit the hospital everyday to sit in the “space shuttle” (I gave the oxygen chamber this name because of its strange shape) for one hour…well, the good thing is that my daughter is 14 now and she is like an angel, happy and healthy, making all the troubles and pains worthwhile. |

Therolex submariner was first launched in 1953 and the first model was called the rolex submariner 6200 and on this watch it had no protective shoulders and the winding crown was much bigger than it is today hence the name Rolex Submariner big crown. After this model next introduced in the late 1950's was the 5510 and 6538. In the 1960's rolex then made quite a few changes to the watch such as adding protective shoulders either side of the winding crown and making the crown much smaller in size. The model number in the 1960's were 5513, 5512 the chronmeter version and 6536. Later in the 1970's again the watch went through more changes having a date facility added to the watch face and until 1976 the words rolex submariner were printed in red and this was the rolex submariner 1680 and this also has a plexi glass. We will cover more about the rolex submariner in later articles. Thanks for reading. |

I used to look at business women who wore scarves with their suits and think they were tailored, posh and classic. Then I traveled to Europe and saw women wearing scarves with jeans, cargo pants, corduroys and skirts that is when I realized that a scarf is the perfect woman’s fashion accessory.
While I love delicate lingerie in the warmer months for nocturnal wear - from bridal lingerie to babydolls - the cooler months I'm much more practical.
I love fall fashions because jeans and fleece are incredibly comfortable, soft and warm, but they can be a little boring. Adding a colorful or patterned scarf is a wonderful way to brighten up or give depth to this old fall favorite. A beautiful silk scarf can give an outfit of jeans and a white shirt a chic and sophisticated look while a bold chunky scarf can give the same outfit texture and even a little playfulness. Scarves are relatively inexpensive and come in every color and pattern imaginable. They can be worn loose, wrapped or tied. They can bring attention to your best features or pull attention away from your problem areas. Wearing a scarf that you like allows you to really show your personality while making a global fashion statement. |

I am completely hooked on selling books at half.com! My friend sold clutch bags on eBay and said to try out half.com as they specialise in textbooks.
As a college student, I was pretty frustrated with all my leftover textbooks that my university wasn’t taking for cash refund. I even ended up throwing a few of them in the garbage. I wish I could fish them out now! I’ve been selling on half.com for about 2 weeks and I’ve already made over a $100! I really love how easy it is to list things on the site. Just type in the isbn and then select your condition and set your price. I use old paper bags to package my books, which is great because I’m recycling and I’m not paying anything out of my own pocket to package. Half.com reimburses you for the shipping so you don’t have to feel like you are being robbed. They do take a small bit of commission, but it’s not an extreme amount. If I’m looking for more inventory, I’ll frequent local garage sales and look for textbooks. Most sellers at a garage sale have no idea what their books are worth. Half.com is addicting and quite profitable! |

Fred and I got married a mere 7 months after meeting. It was a whirlwind relationship, but when you've met your soul mate you just know. We had a small wedding for about 100 people in the church we had been attending, and exchanged gold wedding rings, holding our nerves and enjoying the moment. It was a simple affair, but very nice and stress free.
My colors were dark purple and cream, so I wore a dark purple dress and Fred wore a dark blue suit. It was the second wedding for both of us. The wedding went off without a hitch. My friends from my old work place and my new work place were all able to make it. My friend Sheryl's son had the sniffles, but did really well throughout the ceremony. After we were legal, Fred and I drove 2 hours to a honeymoon cabin we had rented.
There was a snowstorm on the way to the cabin, which made seeing in the mountainous curves a little tricky. We eventually arrived at our cabin without too much trouble in the late evening hours. We decided to retire early and start exploring the next morning. Boy were we wrong! The next morning, I jumped out of bed ready to go explore the caverns. Fred, on the other hand, couldn't get out of bed. Seems Sheryl's son had the flu and my new husband had caught it!!! Fred laid in bed for 3 days with a temperature of 102 until I was finally able to talk him into going to the closes hospital (about an hour away). The doctor gave him a shot in the butt and Fred sucked it up and was able to spend the next few days exploring with his new wife. A year later on our 1st anniversary, as we were packing the car to leave for a weekend trip, I stepped down wrong and broke my foot! After a visit to the emergency room, we went ahead and left on our trip. I had to finally stop teasing Fred about getting sick on our honeymoon! 9 years later, we are still in love and still married! |

My favorite women’s fashion is hats. There are so many different kinds of hats that serve so many different functions. First, there is the baseball hat. This is necessary when going to root for your favorite baseball time. It keeps the sun out of your eyes and protects your face. The baseball hat is also great when riding in a convertible car. The second most important hat is the snow cap. I love the cute hats with the pom-poms at the end that you wore as a child. I have knit hats in various patterns and colors to match my mood. But these hats are essential to keep you warm during the winter, especially when walking the dog. Finally, I also have rain hats. I have bucket hats which repel the water and let it roll past your body. I also have fedoras, which are good with a trench coat for a light rain. They add a bit of flair to every outfit. I think hats are just likes shoes for most women – you can never have too many.
Another favorite of mine is clutch bags - they're perfect for parties and special days out. |
