Therolex submariner was first launched in 1953 and the first model was called the rolex submariner 6200 and on this watch it had no protective shoulders and the winding crown was much bigger than it is today hence the name Rolex Submariner big crown. After this model next introduced in the late 1950's was the 5510 and 6538. In the 1960's rolex then made quite a few changes to the watch such as adding protective shoulders either side of the winding crown and making the crown much smaller in size. The model number in the 1960's were 5513, 5512 the chronmeter version and 6536. Later in the 1970's again the watch went through more changes having a date facility added to the watch face and until 1976 the words rolex submariner were printed in red and this was the rolex submariner 1680 and this also has a plexi glass. We will cover more about the rolex submariner in later articles. Thanks for reading.
